Hello Mr. Instructor ;)
Being an instructor for rafting or canyoning or even for zip line is a very popular seasonal job in Bovec. It's good fun and pretty well paid for Slovenian standard, but definitely not for the German one. They come to work here from all over the world. As an instructor, you can spend some time in nature where you have to take care of your guests, entertain them, be a psychologist and of course, look charming. It is very responsible and hard job and I have a big respect for them. But on the other side, it is a hobby for many Instructors to get as many tourists as possible - for different types of fun and things to do when they don't work.
I've been here long enough that I've met quite different types of Instructors. It is a big difference between a female or male. Like in life. But let's focus more on the male ones. I've decided we can organise them into 5 different groups:
1. Playboy
He is everywhere. The first day when I came here I met this guy. It's the easiest thing to chat with him. He always comes to you first, buys you drinks and wants only one thing - gets into your panties. He can be charming, funny and pretty sweet but there is only fun for one night because the next night there is some other tourist waiting.
2. "Good guy"
He is very nice, interesting and a very good company. He is not so chatty and flirty like the first type because he usually has a girlfriend waiting for him at home. He is the one who pretends to be "free" for every single girl and not only for one night. He wants to spend time with you (when he is not with his girlfriend) and explaining a lot that his relationship is going to end sooner or later. A liar. Nothing more.
3. Serious guy
He can be very chatty or a bit mysterious. He is known to have a girlfriend and he is committed to her. He can be single as well (probably, haven't met one yet) but he is loyal to his principles and values. He can have fun and party a lot but still plays a fair game. In the past some of this type were known for "playboys" but they got "serious". The ones to have a serious relationship with.
4. "Wanna be" Playboy"
A type of a guy who wants to be "The Playboy" but he is not popular enough because he is unfortunately not cool enough. Usually, a guy who comes from the capital or someone who wants to have all the female tourists in his bed but has not enough cool friends and is not very good Instructor (yet).
5. Jerk
He is in a serious relationship but still flirting with other girls. Everyone knows he is in a relationship but he doesn't care. He is usually good with the words, talking a lot but in the end nothing happens. Or maybe sometimes.
So, these are the main types you can meet in Bovec. There is, of course, many more mixtures of them. And if you can guess I was an easy target for the first one, "Playboy". After long relationship back in Germany I just didn't know anymore how it goes. Stupid little city girl not used to Slovenian charm ... but then I met "the Good" guy who helped me with everything. He was trying to teach me how to paddle, took me to his rafting tour and to one of the most magnificent viewpoints ... I've become a real Savage, so different than I was. I'm not even putting my powder blush on... but I've just realised he is never going to break up with his girlfriend. And crying again, totally in love. Damn.
